EROTICISM AND ESOTERICISM - AN ATTEMPT TO DESCRIBE A PHENOMENON

A boy starts to transform into an adult at around the age of 12. Hormones play an essential role in this process of development. At this age many boys have a remarkable beauty, sometimes even appearing somewhat girl-like, which is often characterised in German by the word “Jungen- blüte” (literally: boy blossom.) Here are some examples showing what I mean.

The smell of a boy is evocative of scented soap, or a deodorant spray, and this can be particularly noticeable when he perspires – more of this in a minute when I talk about “Hyazinthos”. The minute blond hairs on his unblemished skin shimmer like silk against the light. The boy’s head and face is proportionally large in comparison to the often graceful chest and shoulder region, and indeed the rest of his body, and this imbalance can be emphasised by a full head of hair. His luxuriant, glossy hair quickly returns to its well-groomed state after bathing, without the need for comb and bnish. He has long, dark thick eyelashes and sometimes even a natural eye shadow! His lips are intensely red. A flat stomach - an essential feature of beauty - a pronounced bottom and legs with a balance and harmony difficult to surpass; indeed this part of the body often provides a stimulating contrast with the upper regions.

Beauty radiates out from many boys, with others it flourishes silently and secretly, hoping to be discovered. In both cases this beauty is never obtrusive or blatantly artificial as is often the case with the current aesthetic Hollywood-like norms, where grossly opulent busts and broad hips are transmuted into an aesthetic ideal of doubtful quality which has been mostly defined by the forces of the modern fetish of economic growth.

This is the result of the current, almost dominant, materialistic world norms, but changes are slowly becoming visible.

This may mean a return to norms of ancient times, to the standards of the predecessors of our Indo-Germanic culture. In the accounts of those long off days, even the gods longed for the favour of the beautiful human boys. In the myth recounting Apollo and his young friend Hyazinthos for example, the jealousy of the demigod Zephyr was aroused. The boy died in tragic circumstances, and out of his spilt blood grew the first hyacinth. On a personal note, the scent of the hyacinth in spring and the aroma given off by many boys when they sweat, are so redolent of each other that I feel I must draw the reader’s attention to this.

God is not only love, but beauty. Through the medium of beauty He touches mankind, and so reveals Himself. To appreciate this, the esoteric concept of “Formstrahlung” (literally: form radiation) is essential; a body corresponds to its outward appearance, its shape, skin structure, smell, gestures and movements. It is through this often unconscious meta-communicative process that God is trying to reveal Himself to Man, as though He were saying “Embrace me....caress me...”

Most adults find it difficult to imagine a love affair independent of age and sex. A society opposed to corporality and bent on preserving a putative childlike innocence leaves devastating traces on its members. Those who have had a neglected and mutilated emotional life are generally irritated by the highly emotional exuberance of youth when they are confronted with it.

It is not a coincidence that mankind has been pining away for a godless 2000 years; this process began at a time when man started to demonize real beauty and true love. Boy love reveals itself to those who still have dreams and visions, who still know the desires of the heart. Anyone with an open mind would be hard put to ignore the provocative naivety embodied in this mixture of male and female, adult and child. Only then is the mystery of the soul revealed, man has his psychic awakening and in so doing takes the next step in his evolution.
