SOOTFACE
BY DANIEL BARDET AND FRANÇOIS DERMANT

Boule de Suie (Sootface) is a colour graphic novel set in France in 1589 written by Daniel Bardet and illustrated by François Dermant. It was published by Glénat in Grenoble in 1987 as the fourth volume of the series Les Chemins de Malefosse (The Malefosse Paths).

Presented here is page 39, depicting the sole pederastic scene. The translation from the original French is by J. M. Thian for this website in 2024.

The Boule de Suie (Sootface) of the title is a fourteen-year-old French boy who has joined two German mercenaries in search of hidden treasure. Temporarily separated from his companions and in the Valley of Misery, a slum of Paris, he runs into two Spanish guards who try to rape him, then he is rescued by one of the mercenaries.
